Before I forget, Happy Birthday to [info]jrittenhouse! I was going to make it a post script, but who knows how many people will read that far?

Friday was a bit of a blur. I was running around doing chores to get the house ready for some weekend showings. Halfway through the day, Cathy came home and she also ran around. Then we threw stuff in the suitcase and picked Sarah up at school. I suddenly remembered my pills, so we detoured home and I put the pills into a pill case, which I carefully left on the counter.

We joined the Mass Pike heading East to Boston, pausing only at every rest stop for Sarah. As soon as we would rejoin the highway, she'd announce her urgent need. We got to the Westin, where Cathy picked up our Boskone badges and stuff, and Sarah and I took a dip in the pool. After that, I went down to see [info]gerisullivan at the Death to Peeps event and had a jolly time. I also saw [info]lsanderson a lot of times, always walking in the opposite direction. I suppose it's possible that the rest of the time, he was walking in the same direction as me, and I just didn't see him.

We had dinner in the in-house restaurant. I'd been thinking $7 was a bit steep for a cup-sized bowl of clam chowder, but after I had my $39 tenderloin, it seemed I'd have done better to have two bowls of chowder. Nonetheless, the food I ate there was well prepared, I must say. (We also had meals from the hallway outside the restaurant, where sandwiches, burgers, or breakfast items were available at various times.)

In the Con Suite, Cathy and I were hailed by Paul King, who we last saw in Colorado in 1980. He's mostly been in the Boston area, and over the weekend, we caught up on some of the intervening stuff a little. Next time I saw [info]marykaykare, I told her I'd seen another ex-Slan running around, and she said she'd seen him a time or two -- possibly at Boskones.

On Saturday, Sarah and I had two more trips to the pool, and I attended panels and parts of panels while Sarah enjoyed the Dragon's Lair. They had great programs there, and she enjoyed songs, magic and swordplay between creation of copious quantities of crafts. All thumbs up for the Dragon's Lair! That night, I went to the best Tor party yet -- mostly because it was quieter and less crowded, and I was able to have coherent conversations with [info]ckd, [info]elisem, and [info]tnh, among others. Around 2, I helped put stuff away.

On Sunday, there was another pool visit, and we cleared out of the room. We had a final meal at the hotel restaurant (who cleverly used a slide, projected on the wall, in place of a more permanent sign). I had a bowl of the chowder and some cod & chips, but for some reason, my appetite wasn't equal to the fish, and I left half of it behind. Sarah wasn't hungry either. On the way home, she said her tummy hurt.

We came home to an immaculate house, fresh from being shown (including two hours of Open House), and a note from the agent said things had gone well. Sarah stayed up until nine to watch the premiere of an hour-long "movie" on Nickelodeon that she'd looked forward to, and then she went to sleep. I stayed up for my usual Sunday chat with my pal Harry (and a couple of others, including [info]emsworth).

Monday morning, Sarah felt worse and was running a temperature. Cathy took her to her usual doctor, but nobody was there, so she went to the other children's clinic, in Westfield, where the diagnosis was flu. I probably have it too, but thanks to my flu shot, it's only a minor annoyance and some extra trips to the bathroom. Today she's doing better. Tomorrow she should be better still, which is good since we have to clear out for another showing in the morning. We're expecting at least one offer, though we have no idea how much they're going to bid.

For the rest of the week, Sarah and I will be hanging around together while her school has its "winter vacation" to recover from the strain of having classes for a whole week and a half with no days off. I expect I'm forgetting to salute some friends I saw at the con, but Sarah is anxious for me to come and sit with her while the movie has some scary parts (it's on again), so I'll maybe have to ps them in later on.
