1:36pm: bus stops
.
Yesterday, as a special treat, Cathy went to the bus stop with us in the morning and waited for the bus. And waited. And waited. Finally, she just had to go on to work, and drove off. After the bus was 15 minutes late, I called the school and found that pothole work on Pease was slowing traffic, and callers had said the bus wasn't there after 20 minutes.

The bus did show up, though, 20 minutes after its usual time, and then I took my walk, and normality returned. In the evening, I went to the school to get Sarah because she was doing Mad Science. It was supposed to start two weeks ago, but last week there was no school, and the week before it was a snow day. They seemed to be having two sections, which made me wonder why I hadn't been called, since I'd signed up to help with the second section.

As we drove home, something hit the side of the car. My first thought was that the car behind had thrown something, but even as this was in my head, my other senses were processing the sights and sounds, and it seemed more like a bird had smacked into us, then vanished out of sight in front of me. The light changed, and I went forward with some trepidation, but apparently the bird was the same one I saw flying up to the left a second or two after the impact, which left a quarter-sized circle of light-colored goo on my side mirror.

This morning, it was ten degrees colder and windy. Sarah and I walked to the bus stop and waited, and... yeah, you got it. After fifteen minutes of freezing in 15F, we got in Andrew's mom's car. After a few more minutes, we decided to stop waiting for the bus, and I took Sarah and Traigh to school. On the way, Sarah said that the bus driver had a flat yesterday, and that he told them he had to take a bus full of high-school students somewhere in the mountains, and someone else was driving the white bus today. This made me wonder why the other driver didn't just take the high-school bus.

The music project continues apace. Last night I deleted enough things to ensure that what's left will fit on the CDs. I still need to shift things around a bit, and it looks like I can put a couple of things back.

I should take my exercise. I guess it's a treadmill day. Boring, boring treadmill. I also need to sort stuff upstairs, and do some of the library newsletter. I mostly want to sleep for a half hour or so, somewhere warm.

ps: Tech question. Why does my computer periodically lose the ability to play files? Music and movies both. It's like there's one turntable inside the machine that makes the computer scroll through media files, and from time to time -- almost daily -- the rubber band falls off. Everything is there, the file is loaded, but it won't play until I reboot. I don't know why, and I don't know how to fix it. And my Mac's AirPort now refuses to play with my router. My question is, should I blow the whole house up, or just myself?
