I think both you and Kip understand the degree to which I really, really don't like children.

Sarah looks as cute as normal people think all children are. Dear god, is she that photogenic or is she really the first of a superrace of impossibly charismatic overlords?

Both theories may be correct. I don't know. Every time I come to this thread, I end up looking at all the pictures again. Then again, I feel that there are lots of cute kids around. One thing about Sarah, she doesn't conceal her happiness.

When I think about it, though, it's still hard for me to believe. We filled out paperwork and went to China, and they gave us Sarah.

It's a great poem. Yeah, she was a real spiker. Her hair was coming back in after being kept short at the orphanage.

If they met, the cuteness factor would be devastating, and the fiendish control of the world would be assured.

I kept waiting for Miss Sarah to come tumbling by in the Minicon Kid Horde® or to drift by the 2nd floor pianos and hear Joplin or Gershwin and chat with you. Great pictures do this.

I keep hoping we'll get back to Minicon. Maybe next year, since we'll be closer. Then again, we'll probably have to fly anyway, so we're effectively about the same distance. But I still have my hopes.

I wish I'd known at Pi-Con! I'd be happy to talk to you about it any time. There's some commentary on the photo page of my old website, and more pictures (with some comments) at the flickr pages I've linked to, but maybe we can get together in a virtual way for a conversation about it.

I love to show my family pics. My iPod is the present-day version of an endless accordion-folded waterfall of photos tumbling out of an immense digital wallet. Patrick & Teresa linked to my webpage photo of Sarah in the red chair one time, and I had about 700 hits on it in a week. Now I think I'm back to my usual average, about 700 below that.

Hi, I followed the link here from Making Light in the most recent Open Thread (103) and just had to comment - I hope you don't mind!

I'm the younger sister of a Korean adoptee (adopted at 2 years, and she's thirty-two now, roughly) and I love her more than life. To see this is just - amazing. It's like a little slice of my own family history in the hands of someone else, if that makes sense, and I truly wish you the best with Sarah. I can tell you from experience that it'll be rough at times, and difficult, and she'll be even more amazing than she is now, year by year. Truly, the best of luck.

No problem, I'm glad somebody dropped by. Yeah, rough at times -- she's always been manic as she gets tired (and denies that she's tired), and now she seems to be developing the ability to be manic in the morning as well. And between times, she's the sweetest kid ever.

One of my high school friends was adopted from Korea. I haven't seen him for years, but have reports that he's fulfilled his early promise. His dad was my best piano teacher.

I'd write more, but Sarah calls. Time to help her get ready for school.
